During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) faced the challenge of producing thousands of training and instructional videos while operating under strict lockdown conditions. Traditional video production methods were no longer viable, and the IDF required a scalable, efficient solution to maintain continuity in training and internal communications.

With limited access to production facilities and the need for rapid content delivery, I devised a solution centered on the Adobe framework, custom CEP extensions, and a cloud-based rendering setup. This approach provided a reliable way to deliver high-quality, standardized videos that met the rigorous demands of the IDF.

The Approach

To meet these unprecedented challenges, I developed an advanced automated video production system utilizing the Adobe framework. By harnessing custom CEP extensions and integrating cloud-based rendering machines, the solution was built around three interconnected components:

Scalable Video Automation

At the core was a bespoke automation framework within Adobe After Effects, which programmatically generated videos. This system used dynamic text and graphics insertion to automatically incorporate relevant details such as dates, unit names, and specific instructions.

Pre-designed templates ensured that videos were instantly customizable to meet the unique training requirements of each IDF unit.

Cloud-Based Rendering Infrastructure

To process videos at scale, I implemented a cloud-based rendering system that leveraged remote processing. This infrastructure enabled parallel rendering operations, significantly reducing turnaround times and providing multiple stakeholders with secure remote access to review and approve content.

Data-Driven Content Generation

An innovative aspect of the solution was its ability to generate personalized video content directly from structured data inputs. Using pre-defined rules and templates, the system dynamically produced video variations tailored to different units, ensuring accuracy and consistency while minimizing manual intervention.
